Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
